1127 Drake St., Madison
FGS The Restoration Company completed a remodel in April 2015 of a bathroom at 1127 Drake St. in Madison. The $10,600 job took two months, as the entire bathroom was gutted, with a new shower, a new vanity, a new toilet, new light fixtures, new hardware, new flooring and new trim. FGS crews removed asbestos, and the renovation required plumbing and electrical work, as well as drywall work and painting.
Apartment Fire, Madison
FGS assisted a Madison man whose apartment was damaged in July 2014 by a fire. Laborers boarded up his apartment, and FGS began reconstruction work in August 2014, finishing in January 2015.
Brody Townhomes, Madison
FGS completed renovation of the Brody Townhomes in Madison in March 2015, a $1.65 million project that lasted eight months. Before FGS went to work, the Brody Townhomes were a deteriorating complex with 60 percent vacancy. Now, 20 units that were three bedrooms and 1 ½ bathrooms have been remodeled into units featuring two bedrooms and 2 ½ baths, with significant upgrades, including strengthened roof pitches, new siding, new windows, hard-surface woodgrain flooring throughout first-floor living areas and a stainless steel kitchen appliance package. Each unit comes with a full, unfinished basement for storage, as well as a full-size washer and dryer.
Cardinal Apartments, Madison
FGS finished renovating the Cardinal Apartments in Madison in August 2014, working in tight quarters to install new siding and windows. The 107-year-old property housed the Cardinal Hotel until the early 1980s, when a fire triggered the 1985 conversion to condominiums. It now stands as 21 apartments, with 13 one-bedroom units and eight two-bedroom units, two of which are lofts, on the upper four floors. The first floor houses the Cardinal Bar.
Fair Oaks Affordable Living, Adams
FGS finished a major renovation of Fair Oaks Affordable Living in Adams in March 2014, making both interior and exterior improvements. The kitchens and bathrooms of all 91 apartments were remodeled, common areas were modernized and building mechanicals were updated to high-efficiency equipment. It was a $1.45 million project – in the form of a loan that the Adams County Housing Authority secured in 2011 through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Multi-Family Housing Preservation and Revitalization program. And with $1 million in debt deferral made possible with assistance from FGS’ parent company, Wisconsin Management Company, the ACHA provided many residents with rent decreases of more than $100.

Langdon Hall, Madison
FGS completed a remodel of five bathrooms at Langdon Hall in Madison in April 2015. The $15,600 job took three weeks, as bathtubs were replaced and new showers were constructed.
Marge’s House, Fitchburg
When Marge experienced a sewer problem at her Fitchburg home, her worries were numerous. Not only did her wet carpeting need to be replaced as a result of the sewer backup in her basement, she had a load of contents that had to be moved. In stepped FGS, which started work in July 2014 and finished in only a month, with Ancelmo Teyes and Victor Zagel even hauling Marge’s furniture back into her rooms after the job was complete. “Both gentlemen that were at my home were well-trained in their field, could answer all my questions,” Marge said. “They were top-notch workers.”
Portage Commons Apartment Homes, Portage
Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub, Lake Geneva
FGS repaired a damaged ceiling at Sprecher’s Restaurant & Pub in Lake Geneva in October 2014. The ceiling above the bar area became saturated as a result of a failure in the restaurant’s fire suppression system. All repairs by FGS were performed after hours, enabling Sprecher’s to remain open, with no disruption in business.

Village Glenn Apartments, Waunakee
Don’s handicap-accessible unit was destroyed in January 2014 when a fire ripped through Village Glenn Apartments in Waunakee. In stepped FGS, which worked with Wisconsin Management Company to rebuild Don’s apartment, finishing construction six months later. “The apartment is amazing,” Don said. “Everybody involved did an outstanding job. I guess the wait was worth it.”
